BelAire’s glass balustrade systems are engineered for strength, safety and clarity. Designed for decks, balconies, stairwells, and landings, our systems are ideal for homeowners and developers seeking a refined, modern finish that doesn’t compromise on compliance or durability.
We use 12mm toughened safety glass, with polished bevelled edges, and a choice of fixings and finishes to suit your space. Every system is modular, simple to install, and designed to meet or exceed New Zealand building code requirements.
Want uninterrupted views? Ask us about our 13.52mm Sentry glass. It meets NZS 4223:2016 and F4 requirements—no handrail needed.
Our glass balustrades are fully compliant with the NZ Building Code (F4, F9, NZS4223:2016, AS/NZS2208), and include full PS1 documentation for all wind zones, including Extra High Wind Zones.
Depending on your requirements, panels can be installed using:
• Core-drilled spigots
• Base-mounted spigots
• Side-mounted or face-fixed spigots
• Channel options.
All systems are designed for outdoor use and can include optional top rails where required by regulation (such as where there is a fall of 1 metre or more).
View PS1 DocumentsGlass balustrades on decks and balconies provide a safety barrier without obstructing views. They are ideal for properties with scenic surroundings, allowing homeowners to enjoy the landscape while ensuring safety.
Installing glass balustrades atop retaining walls can prevent falls from elevated areas in a visually unobtrusive manner. This application combines safety with a clean, contemporary look.
In multi-unit residential buildings, glass balustrades are used for balconies and common areas to meet safety codes while enhancing the building’s modern aesthetic.
Glass balustrades serve as pool fences, complying with safety regulations while maintaining clear views of the pool area. This application is particularly popular for its ability to blend safety with style.
These projects exemplify how BelAire’s glass balustrades can be tailored to various settings, ensuring safety and compliance without detracting from the property’s aesthetic value.

A Blenheim client approached BelAire Designer Fencing for a balustrading solution to boarder his outdoor deck and pool area, not wanting to obstruct his amazing view. Our Glass Balustrade system provided functionality and safety that complimented the aesthetics of our client’s house.
Yes, that's correct! If you're using standard 12mm toughened glass panels for your balustrade, a handrail is generally required to comply with New Zealand Building Code Clause F4 and NZS4223:2016 standards.
However, if you opt for Sentry Glass panels, you can achieve a seamless look without a top rail. Sentry Glass panels have a stiff interlayer between two laminated panels, allowing them to remain standing even if shattered. This makes them compliant without the need for a handrail, although they are more costly—approximately 4 to 5 times the price of standard toughened glass panels.
For a minimal and compliant handrail option, we offer a 21mm high stainless steel handrail that provides safety without significantly obstructing the view.
If you're in a coastal area, it's important to consider the impact of salt and moisture on your fencing.
Here are some recommendations for coastal fencing:
Material Choice:
- Opt for materials that are resistant to corrosion, such as aluminium or fibre cement panels. These materials are less likely to degrade in salty environments compared to traditional timber.
Maintenance:
- Regularly rinse your fence with fresh water to remove salt deposits. This helps prevent corrosion and maintains the appearance of your fence.
- Consider applying a protective coating or sealant to further protect against the elements.
Design Considerations:
- Ensure your fence design allows for proper drainage to avoid water pooling, which can accelerate corrosion.
- Use stainless steel hardware, as it offers better resistance to rust in coastal conditions.
Installation:
-Ensure posts are set deeper and with adequate concrete to withstand the softer, sandy soils often found in coastal areas.
Absolutely! At BelAire Fencing, we offer custom powder-coated hardware to match or complement your desired aesthetic. Here's what you can do:
Colour Matching:
You can choose to have your hardware powder-coated in any of the colours available in the Dulux powder-coating chart. This allows for a seamless look that matches your fence and overall property design.
Wide Range of Colours:
Whether you prefer subtle tones or bold colours, our customisation options ensure that your hardware aligns with your vision.
Durability:
Our powder-coating process not only enhances the appearance but also adds a layer of protection against the elements, ensuring long-lasting durability.
